Insurance and Costs,
Answered Before Your First Visit

Almost nobody enjoys this part. The honest position is that we cannot tell you what your care will cost from a web page, because your plan decides that and plans differ enormously. What we can do is check yours before you commit, and put the number in front of you rather than on a bill afterwards.

WHICH PLANS WE TAKE

We Accept Many Major Plans, and Your Policy Is the Only Thing That Matters

Clinics often publish a wall of insurer logos. It is reassuring and, taken alone, it tells you remarkably little. Being in network with an insurer does not mean being in network with every plan that insurer sells, and chiropractic benefits vary between plans from the same company. A logo cannot tell you whether your particular policy covers the therapy you need or how many visits it allows.

So we do the check instead. Share your insurance details when you book and our front desk verifies your chiropractic and therapy benefits directly with your plan before your first appointment. You then get a straight account of what is covered, what your share looks like, and what happens if you want care your plan will not pay for. If you would rather confirm coverage before booking at all, call us on (914) 747-9200 and we will run it.

If you want to arrive already knowing the answers, the plain-language explanations of how coinsurance is calculated at HealthCare.gov and the general background on how health insurance coverage is structured from MedlinePlus are both worth ten minutes.

WHAT DRIVES THE NUMBER

Four Things That Decide What You Actually Pay

There is no single price for chiropractic care, and any clinic quoting you one before seeing your history is guessing. These are the variables that move the figure.

The type of visit

A first appointment includes an examination and a discussion of findings, so it runs longer and costs more than a follow-up adjustment. Knowing which you are booking is the single biggest factor in what you will pay on the day.

What your plan of care includes

An adjustment alone sits at one end. Add spinal decompression sessions, deep tissue laser, or massage therapy and both the per-visit cost and the number of visits change. We set out the whole plan before you start rather than adding items as we go.

Your specific benefits

Two people with cards from the same insurer can have completely different chiropractic coverage, visit caps, and referral requirements. This is why a general answer to "do you take my insurance" is close to useless, and why we check yours directly.

Where you are in the plan year

If your deductible is unmet, you may pay the full negotiated rate until it is satisfied. The same care in November can cost you very differently from January. We tell you where you stand before your first visit, not after.

TAKE THIS WITH YOU

Six Questions to Ask Your Insurer

Useful whether you come to us or go elsewhere. Ask these and you will know more about your own coverage than most patients ever do.

  1. Does my plan include chiropractic benefits, and how many visits per year?
  2. Do I need a referral or pre-authorisation before I am seen?
  3. What is my copay or coinsurance for a chiropractic visit?
  4. How much of my deductible is still outstanding this year?
  5. Are therapies such as spinal decompression, laser, or massage covered, or only the adjustment?
  6. Is this provider in network under my specific plan, not just with the insurer generally?

If your injury came from a car accident, a different system applies and the timelines are short. See our guidance on getting evaluated and documented after a collision. New York vehicle insurance requirements are set out by the state Department of Motor Vehicles. This is general education only and not advice about your individual claim.

GOOD TO KNOW

Insurance and Cost Questions

Do you accept my insurance?+

We accept many major plans, and the only reliable answer for your situation comes from checking your actual policy. Give us your insurance details when you book and our front desk verifies your chiropractic and therapy benefits before your first visit, then tells you what is covered and what you would owe. If we are not a fit for your plan, we will say so rather than starting care and letting you discover it on a bill.

How much does chiropractic care cost without insurance?+

It depends on the visit type and the therapies your plan of care includes, so we quote you directly rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most people. What we will commit to is that you get the number before care begins, not afterwards. Self-pay patients are common here and we offer financing options for longer plans of care.

What is the difference between a copay, coinsurance, and a deductible?+

A copay is a flat amount per visit. Coinsurance is a percentage of the cost that you carry. A deductible is the amount you pay yourself before the plan starts contributing at all. Many people are surprised by a bill because their deductible had reset, not because their coverage changed. Your insurer can tell you exactly where you stand, and so can we once we have run your verification.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a chiropractor?+

In New York you can generally see a chiropractor directly without a physician referral. Your insurance plan is a separate question: some plans do require a referral or pre-authorisation before they will pay, even where the law does not require one to be seen. That is one of the specific things our benefits check looks for.

I was injured in a car accident. How does that work?+

This is handled differently from ordinary health coverage. As general education only, New York operates a no-fault system for motor vehicle injuries, and no-fault applications typically must be filed within a short window after the crash, so getting evaluated and documented promptly protects both your recovery and your claim. We are not able to advise you on your specific claim, and nothing here should be read as a statement about what any insurer will pay.

What if my plan does not cover the care I need?+

Then we tell you plainly and give you the self-pay cost, along with any financing option that applies. Plenty of patients proceed on self-pay once they can see the actual numbers, and plenty decide the timing is wrong. Both are reasonable. What we will not do is start a long plan of care without you knowing what it costs.
